On the way to school, we walked in the silence that bookends a chaotic school day. I liked the silence, in fact I loved it. It was the exact opposite of what it was like at home. It was the opposite of what school would be like once we got there. The silence outside was awesome, I could feel it gently flowing around me, I could smell it in the air. We all loved the silence, my sister loved the silence when she stepped out of the front door and talked to herself with her eyes closed. Everyone except Jimmy loved the silence. On the way to school, he chatted constantly about this and that, everything that left his mouth random and unending, but I was used to it, all of us were used to his blah blah blah’ing, and were able to tune it out, like a constant soundtrack that we had the mute button for.
