Outside, everything looked on the verge of chaos. The sun’s frantic setting cast an eerie flaming orange light that reflected with searing intensity off of the skyscrapers’ mirrored exteriors down the city canyon that I stared down. It seemed like everything surrounding me was on fire, all cast in a brilliant fireball color that belonged more with flowing lava, not amongst busy downtown office buildings. It looked like a nuclear blast with the long towering shadows that stretched around my still frame, and standing there, I fought hard with the urge to run, fearing the sonic heat wave that would inevitably follow the nuclear flash.
