February 3, 2010 by radnidge

I spent most of the day hanging pictures… and it’s starting to look really good.

Make sure to come down to Walrus (3408 Cambie Street, Vancouver) tomorrow (Feb 4th) between 6-9pm… I look forwards to seeing you!

awake

January 26, 2010 by radnidge

I felt dizzy and had woken up with a start. I remembered dreaming something along the lines of walking through a pond with my jeans rolled up to my knees. There were fish in the pond and with a shaking hand I’d reached into the cool water and had pulled one out. Just one fish, and as I held it up to me, I panicked and dropped the fish but it never had a chance to hit the water.
It was then that I woke up, with the fish hanging just millimeters above the cool surface.
Suddenly awake, I worried that the fish would die if it never hit water.

wind

January 22, 2010 by radnidge

Instantly, I felt the orange light on my face. It burned my eyes and made my forehead burn yet oddly feel cold. The light hung on my features as my heart raced. I could feel her eyes on my face as she looked down the barrel of bright light towards me as everything raged around us. Even though buffeted by the wind, on my face, the flashlight’s stare was still and calm. It didn’t bounce around like a moth.
My heart beat in my ears and I wanted to run downstairs and stand beside her on the lawn. I wanted to feel the storm rip me from the ground as I clutched her damp warm hand, tethering me to earth like a helium balloon. I dreamt of running across the street and into the subdivision with her leading the way, my body aching to be held close, my lips wanting to be kissed. I had never felt anything like this before.

mom’s face

January 19, 2010 by radnidge

“What’s going on with you baby? Why won’t you talk to me?”
My eyes followed the lines on her face. She’d changed so much since we’d moved. I didn’t remember seeing so many roads and valleys on her face before we caught dad in bed with the neighbor. My mom had lost that soft haze that had followed her, the pretty slightly airbrushed look that had been with her for as long as I could remember. Now I noticed that she looked slightly weather beaten. She was a desert, wind and sun worn. The happiness had left her face. It was a ghost town.
